On 2 July, Transpolis, the first " scale 1 real fake city " in France, was inaugurated in Saint Maurice de Remens, in the Ain département. Banque des Territoires is participating in SAS Transpolis' €1.4mn capital increase and is thus helping to structure the financing of this facility.
Banque des Territoires is investing €700,000 in the capital of SAS Transpolis, which, alongside the Institut français des sciences et technologies des transports, de l'aménagement et des réseaux (Ifsttar), has 15 shareholders, the main ones being Caisse des Dépôts, Renault Trucks, Béton Travaux and Groupama.
Transpolis is developing on 80 hectares the only scale 1 laboratory city in Europe: international players can test their innovations in vehicles, energy, networks and telecommunications, road equipment, infrastructure, Internet of things, street furniture, etc.
Located in the Ain plain on a former military base, Transpolis is organised into several modular and interconnected zones, configured to adapt to the different tests. It makes it possible to experiment with a very wide variety of scenarios and use cases essential for the development of connected, automated or even autonomous vehicles, an experimentation that requires an adapted and modular "playground".
