The 5 national banks and institutions* in the Joint Initiative on Circular Economy (JICE), including Caisse des Dépôts, alongside the European Investment Bank (EIB), have decided to continue their efforts beyond the initial deadline of 2023. The aim is to further accelerate the transition to a sustainable and circular economy.
The partners have also decided to open up their initiative to other European banks and public institutions interested in making a commitment to a circular economy.
The JICE, launched in 2019, aims to provide long-term financing for projects that accelerate the transition to a circular economy. The JICE partners have set an initial funding target of at least €10bn. By the end of 2022, €8.9bn had already been committed to projects in agriculture, industry and services, mobility, urban development, waste and water management.
