On 14 June Caisse des Dépôts announced the acquisition of Euronext shares from ABN Amro and Société Générale for a total of 2% of the company's capital, bringing its stake to 8%. It will thus become the largest shareholder alongside Euroclear, which also holds 8% of the capital.
Caisse des Dépôts therefore supports the stability of the main Paris Marketplace infrastructures, as a long-term investor, promoting the financing of French companies.
Caisse des Dépôts, ABN Amro and Société Générale are all parties to the agreement between Euronext’s reference shareholders concluded on 20 June 2017 and which has just been renewed, on 17 June, until 19 June 2021. In total, the reference shareholders* hold 23.27% of Euronext’s share capital.

Euronext was born from the merger between the Paris, Amsterdam and Brussels stock exchanges in 2000, and has become one of the main international stock exchanges, the leading stock exchange in Europe and 6th worldwide. Euronext now also encompasses the Lisbon and Dublin stock exchanges and is considering acquiring the Oslo stock exchange.
